Diabetes Info: Everything you need to know about diabetes

David

15 years old, has been living with diabetes for 6 years

One morning I woke up and felt absolutely horrible. Well, at the hospital they diagnosed me with diabetes. Since then I've been dealing really well with my diabetes. The condition doesn't hold me back in any way. I just have to give myself injections; everything else has stayed the same.

My friends took the news of my diagnosis just fine, and I told them immediately so that they could help me if I ever had a problem.

At the beginning I was on multiple daily injection therapy, the one with the pend, and now I've been on the pump for two years. It's totally easy for me: I just press a button and in flows the insulin. When I do sports, I just take the pump off.

I've been playing on the Komball team for three years now; it's a kind of freestyle football. While I was at the Komball camp, I guess you could say I was 'discovered'. Now I go all over Europe giving Komball demonstrations.
